Michael Monohan D.O. is a Board Certified Family Physician who has been practicing at Post Falls Family Medicine since 2006 after moving from Colville, Washington. Dr. Monohan worked in Colville between 2003 and 2006 as an Emergency Room Physician for Mt. Carmel Hospital and as a Family Physician for NE Washington Medical Group. In 2004, he was recalled for one year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserves at that time, he was assigned to be the Senior Medical Officer for Branch Clinic Miramar in San Diego, CA where he helped care for Active Duty Marines and their families.
Prior to his time practicing in Colville, he completed a rural training track residency through Family Medicine Spokane and a Family Medicine Intership in Portland, OR. He also spent three years from 1997-2000 as a Battalion and Regimental Surgeon for the 3rd Marine Regiment stationed out of Hawaii and Okinawa, Japan. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Eastern Oregon University and his Doctorate through Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Prior to medical school, one of his many jobs included working outdoors for the US Forest Service as a Biology Technician and Firefighter in both Northern California and Northeastern Oregon. He still enjoys spending his free time participating in the many outdoor activities that the Inland Northwest has to offer, when he is not following his children through their many academic and sports endeavors.
